Hi, I'm Ben, the person behind IPC Technical.
I've spent nearly a decade in hands-on IT. I started on the support desk and worked up to running IT for a whole business. Most recently I was the IT Manager for a fully remote UK training provider. I was the only IT person there, and I was responsible for everything from day-to-day support to security strategy.
In that role I led the business through ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certification. I rewrote its IT and security policies from scratch, brought IT support in-house after it had been outsourced, and managed large parts of the cloud infrastructure. Before that, I spent nine years supporting 100+ users in a fast-paced retail technology business, working across Active Directory, Windows infrastructure, telephony and SLA-driven support.
I set up IPC Technical because small businesses are increasingly being asked to prove they take security seriously, usually by a customer, a contract or a tender, and they rarely have the in-house expertise or budget for a big consultancy. I've done this from the inside, as the person who actually had to make it work, so I know the difference between a policy that looks good to an auditor and one people will genuinely follow.
Based in Widnes, Cheshire, I work with businesses across the North West and remotely across the UK.
